Interdisciplinary artistic research conducted by Constanza Cuevas Puyol at the Centro d’arte e natura l’Aquila Reale, under the "LaValle – Festival" program.
The research focused on studying archaeoastronomy or cultural astronomy in the Aniene Valley, in the province of Rome, Italy, and developing a prototype of an ephemeral installation that revealed these conditions.
Seven Roman archaeological sites were studied, of which five had astronomical alignments. Since cultural astronomy justifies alignments by studying the cultures to which the buildings belonged, the local culture was studied, making it possible to justify that the astronomical dates marked by the buildings coincided with important Roman festivities.
The papers by archaeologist and archaeoastronomer Marina de Franceschini and astrophysicist Giuseppe Veneziano were of great contribution.
The fanzine Dynamics of celestial bodies 001 Aniene Valley illustrates the celestial phenomena of five archaeological sites and the prototyping of two ephemeral installations of site and moment-specific nature, designed especially for each archaeological site: Ojo de luz: Occhio di luce at Horace's Villa and The sunset of Isis: Il tramonto di Iside at Hadrian's Villa.
